Areas to Consider when Planning

When working through the annual business planning process there are many areas to consider. Some of which include:
Operations Systems: project management, team management, IT systems, anything we use to run our business would be considered under this section.
Sales: how are we making the money?
Marketing: how are we telling our story and getting in front of potential customers?
Finances: what is our profit margin? How much money am I actually making, not just what’s coming in?
Each of the above areas has multiple sub areas as well but each should be considered in the scope of a year. As I mentioned in my blog, Planning Can Be Fun!, it helps to break down the larger scope of plans that need to be reviewed and made into smaller sections. Maybe look at operations in the first quarter, and the other areas in subsequent ones.

But what about developing as a person, as a business owner, a spouse, parent, or friend? In my personal planning, I always start with these items below. I won’t be able to do everything, but I look across the various areas and try to identify common threads that I can develop personally that will impact across these areas.
Spirit – connection with God, service to others
Soul – mental growth, self-care, emotional growth
Body – physical and health goals
Finances
Relationships – spouse, family, friends, co-workers
Parenting
Marriage
Work/Business
Download the Planning Considerations Worksheet below to identify areas that you need to focus on developing. Remember that you don’t have to do everything now but do something today to move at least one area of your life forward!
